Silhouette

Have you heard or seen about Silhouette? It connects to your computer like a printer, but it cuts paper/vinyl instead of printing. Retails price US$299.99.

What the machine is capable of:
  • Scrapbook pages
  • Cards Custom apparel
  • Vinyl décor
  • Etched glass
  • Sketch designs
  • Temporary tattoos
  • Paper crafts

I've seen how awesome this digital cutting machine is and I'm absolutely tempted in all directions to make a purchase whenever I see it on promotion *pulls hair*.

Feel free to check out the website or Sihouette Flickr group to view projects. I am particularly impressed with Make it and Love it's creations here. Enjoy!

Camera Strap

Remember my wedding anniversary wishlist? I decided another compact wasn't going to satisfy me.

I got sick of noisy pictures produced by compact camera, so with my Taiwan trip as a catalyst, I traded in my Canon IXUS and topped up some cash for Canon EOS 550D and paired it with Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD. The first thing I did before showing it to the world was to beautify the strap which was so harsh on the neck. :) And since this camera was meant to travel with me, the fabric paints has to be my favorite animal - elephants!

It was a simple afternoon project. I added batting to the underside of the strap for extra comfort during long trips. I wanted to add a removable lens cover pouch, but didn't have time to brainstorm. Oh well, next time.

 Closer view.

Spoonflower

Have you heard of Spoonflower? If you are in for something customised/unique, Spoonflower will probably make you happy. It's a place for you to design and print your own fabrics! Depending on the type of fabric, a yard will cost between $18 and $32.  What's more? You can also shop for fabrics designed by others.

I'm sooooo excited!

My latest addition

My hubby asked me what I would like to receive for our first wedding anniversary (23 Dec) and christmas. I listed the top 3 on my wishlist:

Serger/Overlocker - to finish my seams nicely

Canon Powershot S95 - to take awesome pictures of my creations

Tripod - to snap pictures of myself in my creations!

That is how much I love sewing. :)

Guess what he got me?

Brother 3034D to accompany my Brother Innov-is 900. Thank you my love!

Sewing Machine Maintenance

Each time I walked past stalls selling oil for sewing machines, I questioned myself if I should oil my Brother Innov-is 900 too. The last thing I want to witness is the machine breaking down due to lack of maintenance. So I did a search and found the following from Brother's website.

There is no need to lubricate the machine because the machine has been oiled enough in advance.

Lubrication can cause trouble.
Please do not put the oil in your machine.

For a maintenance check, please contact Authorized Dealer or Service Center.

How nice! No oiling needed! All I need to do is remove the lints from bobbin area. :))
