Getting organised

So the little one is growing, flipping and grabbing things off my table when we change his diapers.

We used to lay his changing kit on a very ugly sheet of plastic to protect my cutting mat. 6 months has passed and the sheet is covered with powder and dust - an issue when Colin grabs and sucks his fingers later.

So I thought about our little issue after disposing the plastic sheet.

Place the kit on my cutting mat?

No way! My mat is too precious to risk being stained.

Remembered an unused Ikea drawer organiser which I don't think is washable. That means I will have problems removing the powder dust.

No go too. Too much trouble maintaining it.

But! I have fabric scraps! Measure cut measure cut, tadah! The end result.

A cover! Perfect solution! Can remove the cover for washing.

The side view. :)

A happy mom now!

Sewing distractions

Cats and fabrics are made for each other, aren't they?
My cats will always be found sitting on or rolling in the fabric whenever I'm on the floor with fabrics. I welcome their company but they either shift the fabric, or chew on it till it frays...

Today I decided to give Summer cat a bow so he can have fun' lying' on fabric while I cut up my blocks. He was so glad he 'happy pawed' to sleep. :D

Curtains II

Another set of curtains made for our new sleeping area. It took me 2hrs this time; 1.5hrs faster! :)

Hubs didn't know it was curtains until I started putting it up.

Now we can sleep tight in the day time too!

My sewing machine breezed through 6 layers of thick fabric! Much better than my old machine that couldnt quite get the tension right with loopy bobin thread.

Cutting mat

I bought a new cutting mat (60cm x 90cm) from Art Friend while waiting for hubs to check out some books at Bras Basah. This mat is 4 times bigger than my existing 12 year old mat and occupies slightly more than half of my sewing workspace. Now it's much easier to cut fabric blocks accurately.

Totally in love with it! :)

Crib sheets!

The baby cot was delivered last Sunday and I finally could get the measurements to make crib sheets for our little boy.

3 completed! I hope 4 crib sheets (1 came with the cot package) would be enough? :)

I've also sewn 4 pillow cases. Need to do cot bumper next! Hope I can finish before baby Colin greets this world. :)

Sewing Itch

Yes, I haven't been updating.

Thanks to the little one kicking and punching inside me - totally drained me of my energy. I was sleeping at 7.30pm for many days! :D That was the case for 1st trimester.

Now that my energy is back, I've been itching to sew! Burp cloths, bibs, diaper covers, hat, the list goes on... But I'm still unable to sew cause I've shifted to my parents' place due to renovation works at home. We left the machines at home since it's a short 1 month stay.

I can only drool over the baby sewing book which I brought along.

Can't wait to shift back home and start hemming away!
